Welcome to the IEEE PES Seattle Chapter Website!

The Seattle PES Chapter is a chapter of the IEEE Power & Energy Society which covers western Washington. Our members are industry leaders, practitioners, students and academics with a common professional interest in electric power and energy. IEEE Power & Energy Society
The IEEE Power & Energy Society is a worldwide, non-profit association of more than 30,000 individuals engaged in the electric power energy industry. Our mission is to be the leading provider of scientific information on electric power and energy for the betterment of society and the preferred professional development source for our members. PES members are involved in the planning, research, development, construction, installation, and operation of equipment and systems for the safe, reliable, and economic generation, transmission, distribution, measurement, and control of electric energy.

Chair
Tanya Panomvana – P.E., Tanya is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Principal Electrical Power Systems Engineer at Seattle City Light where she supervises Distribution Engineering. She received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering and MBA from the University of Washington.

Tony Hua-Wong
Vice Chair
Tony Hua-Wong is a Distribution Service Engineer at Seattle City Light with previous experience in Joint-Use Engineering. He holds multiple IEEE leadership roles, including Region 6 Awards Chair and past Seattle YP Chair. Tony is involved in his family's business and Seattle's Chinatown safety initiatives. He mentors aspiring tech leaders and actively pursues personal growth and diverse interests.

Xichen Jiang
Secretary
Xichen Jiang is an associate professor at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. He teaches courses in power systems and power electronics. His research area is in power system reliability.

Rich Meier
Treasurer
Rich Meier, P.E. is a Senior Power Systems Engineer at Electric Power Systems Inc. (EPS) where he helps lead a team of consulting engineers conducting planning, interconnection, modeling, and compliance-related studies. He received his B.S. and M.S from Oregon State University.

Dr Thillainathan Logenthiran is a Faculty in Electrical Power Engineering at University of Washington Tacoma, United States. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at the school of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Newcastle University (United Kingdom) for five years and a Postdoctoral Researcher for a year at University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom.

Rylan Caskey is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) helping to manage the electric transmission portfolio for generation interconnections and energy delivery at Puget Sound Energy (PSE), Washington state's oldest & largest electric utility.

Claire is currently a Protection and Controls intern at Tacoma Power, and finishing her Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Washington, Tacoma. After graduating, she will continue her career in Power as a Substation Protection and Controls Engineer with ICF.
