2014 Outstanding Young Engineer of the Year Award to Louis Tibbs
With 7 years in the energy industry, Louis Tibbs is an outstanding early-career contributor to power engineering and the community. He is a Senior Engineer in the Substation Protection group at Puget Sound Energy. At Puget Sound Energy he is a mentor, trainer and recruiter for our industry. He teaches basic electricity to apprentice electricians. Louis is a repeat volunteer on the committee for the regional Future City Competition within the state of Washington which helps middle school students learn about the science and engineering disciplines with real life city design scenarios. He makes technical presentations on utility industry equipment and operations to internal and external organizations such as at the annual Western Protective Relay Conference. He is involved in the Big Brothers Program, mentoring young men to better deal with life and learning challenges. Louis is a leader by example and represents the highest standard of our engineering profession.
