Followup: Tour of SnoPUD’s Vanadium Flow Battery Energy Storage System
10 October, 2017
The tour of SnoPUD’s Vanadium Flow Battery Energy Storage System was a great success! All 16 spots were filled with IEEE members, five of whom were on the waitlist and were still able to make it through. The talk was well received with numerous attendees from other local electric power utilities. Thanks to everyone who attended and for making this another memorable PES event.
Speakers:
- Arturas Floria, Substation Engineer at Snohomish PUD, was an awesome host giving a great introduction at SnoPUD’s main office prior to the tour. [Presentation Slides PDF (8,235K)]
- Brad Kell, Director of Deployment & Field Services for UET, provided an excellent talk detailing the flow batteries at the substation.
- Joe Kuzmick, Manager of Engineering Operations at Doosan GridTech, gave us all a better understanding of battery control systems.
