IEEE PES 2021 Year End Report: Another Successful Year
Dear Members,
2021 for a Covid year, was a successful year. In 2020, we had to postpone one our largest regional training event called NWESS, the Northwest Energy System Symposium. A two day even held every two years at the University of Washington. We spent 2021 restructuring the event to be virtual only and now is scheduled for April 6&7. NWESS.ece.uw.edu.
Lots of other things were happening. We put on and co-sponsored with other organizations like the University of Washington, some fun relevant and really good technical meetings. We totaled 36 meetings. (2 Admin, 1 Non-Technical, 13 Professional, 20 Technical) with total attendance of over 1000 at these meetings. Meeting on things such as:
- Managing uncertainty in coupled power and water distribution networks
- Embracing Low Inertia in Power System Frequency Control: A Dynamic Droop Approach
- Spark Museum of Electrical Invention Tour
- An Overview of the Universal Interoperability for Grid-Forming Inverters (UNIFI) Consortium
- Northwest Power and Conservation Council Context Module Sub Header Challenges of Planning for The Future Northwest Electric Power Grid
- Energy Storage in Future Electricity Markets
- Seattle City Light Miller Community Center – Solar Microgrid Presentation
- Exploring Future Power System Stability
- Data-driven Optimal DER Dispatch Using Estimated Sensitivity Models
We are will be working in 2022 to replace officers and update our website. We thank you for your patience, support and participation.
Your 2022 Seattle PES Executive Committee.
