Seattle 2024 General Meeting Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Inaugural Meeting: Setting the Stage for Success

This meeting was the first of many meetings to be held to support the Seattle 2024 General Meeting to be held in Seattle. Attendance at the GM meeting is expected to be around 3000. This team, the LOC, Local Organizing Committee will help develop speakers, tours, technical talks and support the Plenary session and student events. The LOC is led by Chair Tanya Panomvana of Seattle City Light and Co-Chair Yyaochiem Chao of Puget Sound Energy. The LOC has over 40 members assisting and will need over 150 to support the event in July of 2024.
LOC Meeting Goals:
- Familiarize the team with each other the duties and responsibilities of the LOC.
- Set up the schedule for future LOC meetings.
- Determine Leads for all the LOC positions as well as support members.
- Determine timelines for teams to start working.
- Discuss, review, determine how communications and data between team members, Chair and IEEE National should occur.

- Chair Update
- Future Meetings Locations and Meeting Cadence. – Chair
- LOC Team Data Sharing and Filing System – Chair/Secretary
- Review Position Descriptions and Draft Leads and Team Members – Chair/Max/All
- Discuss how many for each position/role, how to get started in the role, which roles are more difficult?
- Split the Volunteers into the Positions, Such as Plenary, to Confirm Lead and Support Positions
- Open forum
- Review Action Items and Decisions Made
