2024 Outstanding Young Engineer Award to Rich Meier

Rich Meier is a Senior Power Systems Engineer at Electric Power Systems Inc. (EPS) and a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Washington. He received his B.S. (’13) and M.S.(’15) in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University, later completing three years in the Energy Management System space at Alstom/GE prior to joining EPS. Mr. Meier demonstrates expertise in power systems modeling and simulation through his work conducting a wide range of power systems studies including transmission planning, renewable generation interconnections, post-event outage analysis, transient stability and EMT analysis, integration and operational impact studies, and NERC compliance studies. The award nomination recognized Rich as a valued mentor to co-workers, young engineers, and students as well as an effective technical communicator. Mr. Meier is actively engaged in the power systems community serving as a member of the IEEE Seattle Young Professionals in 2018-19 and presently serving as Treasurer on the IEEE PES Seattle Executive Committee since 2020. Rich also volunteers as treasurer and planning committee member for the Northwest Energy Systems Symposium (NWESS).
