Followup: Anacortes Water Treatment Plant Tour

Although it was a small group, we picked up two people from Oak Harbor and both were associated with that City’s water district. We spent over 2.5 hours at the plant. The tour was extensive and very informative on the treatment, operations, power and control of the plant. The plant and tour was very well run. There was another tour, American Water Association ending just as we started.

A few photos follow.

We had 18 people attend the Flat Stick PUB social most were IEEE PES members. It was a lively event with a mixed crowd. A fun game of mini-golf and a very intense competition of full-size Jenga was played. Overall, it was great to socialize with people from different part of the power and energy industry.

Here are a couple photos of the event.

Followup: South Sound Young Professionals Social

The event at Katie Downs in Tacoma was an enjoyable time. We had 8 RSVPs and 6 attendees. All attendees were from Tacoma South. Due to the nice weather Katie Downs had an influx of customers so it was a little loud, and it took them a bit to get our table, but it was enjoyable. The host left at about 9:00pm but we heard that the remaining three or four stayed until after 11pm.

Followup: Young Professionals Informal Meetup Seattle

The IEEE YP informal social was successful. A dozen people signed up but only half attended. Despite the low number of attendees, the group was very diverse utility, consulting, manufacturing, small business, and the Army Core of Engineers. We had some excellent group discussions including preparation for the PE license, impact of electric vehicles on the grid, the practical use of alternative energy, and the future direction of the Energy industry in the United States.
